Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine how was the setup of the sacredness of royalties Spanish and Portuguese in the history written between the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, from the Crónica de los Reyes de Castilla, the Chronicle of D. Pedro, the Chronicle of D. And the Chronicle of Fernando D. John I. Seek out, on the assumption that the meaning attributed to the real sacredness in Castile and Portugal follows a different trajectory in relation to France and England, it would be possible to speak of a peninsular unit with respect to the use of the sacred to the elevation of image of the king. Question that is relevant, because the geographical area surrounding contexts in which to focus before this period were recorded by chroniclers as unified, but that with the consolidation of national states, go to the few defining its origins and its past self. The choice, therefore, the sources said was due, in addition to a few of the highlights of the period, the two aspects: the fact of dealing with moments of apparent instability in the two kingdoms, with a view to the succession crisis occurred in Portugal, with the death of D. Fernando, in Castile, with the murder of D. Pedro and the fact converge in efforts to legitimize the then reigning dynasties and use the sacred to both. (AU)
