Abstract

Oral administration of solid dosage forms is usually preferred in drug therapy. The analysis of the disintegration process is fundamental for the quality control of the pharmaceutical industry. The disintegration process depends on several parameters and its evaluation should be accomplished in vivo by non-invasive methodologies. Nevertheless, very little is known about the influence of the gastrointestinal motility on the pharmaceutical forms when an in vivo measurement is performed. In this study the innovative and non-invasive ACB will be employed to evaluate the behavior of magnetic tablets in vivo when agents that affect gastrointestinal motility are used as model to verify modifications in the disintegration time, retention time and intestinal transit time of coated tablets. Besides that, blood samples analyzed by HPLC will correlate the physical disintegration process with the pharmacokinetic analysis of drug absorption, so-called magnetopharmacokinetic.
