Abstract

The aim of this study is to evaluate the fracture resistance of all-ceramic crowns fabricated with zirconia abutments screwed to osseointegrated implants with different connections. Three groups (n=24) will be characterized: Group I - ceramic crown attached to external hexagon implants, Group II - ceramic crown attached to internal hexagon implants, Group III - ceramic crown attached to Cone Morse implant. Each group will be divided into 2 subgroups (n=12). The replicas of subgroups I.a, II.a and III.a will not be submitted to mechanical cycling while the replicas of subgroups I.b, II.b and III.b will be submitted to 2 million of cycles with oblique loading of 50N at 2hz. The implants will be embedded with autopolymerizing acrylic resin at 130° of inclination in relation to the horizontal plane. The all-ceramic crowns similar to a superior central incisor will be fabricated with zirconia abutments and ceramic veneering and attached to the implants with titanium retaining screw. All replicas will be submitted to fracture resistance test in a universal testing machine with compressive loading at 130° of inclination at 2mm/min. This test will be carried out after mechanical cycling for the replicas of subgroups I.b, II.b and III.b. Detorque measurements will be obtained after 1 million of cycles. Data will be tabled and submitted to statistical analysis.
