Abstract

Juvenil Systemic lupus erythematosus (JSLE) is an autoimmune disease with disease onset before the age of 16. It is considered a multisystemic disease, with periods of exacerbation and remission. The most frequently observed clinical symptoms are skin lesions, photosensitivity, oral ulcers, arthritis, serositis, renal disorders, hematological and immunological abnormalities. The central nervous system involvement is frequently observed, and among various manifestations, seizures, mood disorders, headaches and cognitive impairment should be mentioned. The clinical evaluation is of great value in patients with JSLE, and together with the laboratory findings establishes diagnosis and disease activity. This cross-sectional study, aims to assess the levels of anti-P, anti NR2 and neuronal marker S100 beta in 40 young SLE patients, 20 first-degree relatives and in 20 healthy volunteers and to correlate these levels with the presence of clinical manifestations of the disease. Antibodies titers and neuronal marker will be obtained from blood samples (serum) and levels will be assessed by Enzyme Linked Immuno Sorbent Assay (ELISA).
