Abstract

This project aims to analyze, in comparative perspective, the cultural policies carried out or planned by the Communist Party of Brazil (PCB) and the Communist Party of Chile (CCP) in the field of artistic production between 1935 and 1956.We will take as key documents from the investigation of the discussions on art, literature, music, theater and film published in cultural magazines and newspapers of their respective communist parties in the period in question. It is intended to highlight how the PCB and the CCP built their views on the arts nationally and internationally and to what extent these discussions express the political and cultural assumptions of the International Communist Movement (ICM) that at the time defended the socialist realism as aesthetic parameter.Mostrar romanizaçãoOur research is supported by the intersection of the fields of analysis opened up by renewed political history and cultural history, constituting a theoretical space that dialogues with different areas that focus on cultural studies and themes in the sociology of culture.
