Neurosensory analysis of tooth sensitivity occured during the home-bleaching

Abstract

The purpose of this study to evaluate the temperature for cold detection in teeth during of the bleaching with 10% carbamide peroxide, with or without potassium oxalate. For this, 25 volunteers carefully selected will receive the two types of treatment, and that in a upper hemiarch will be used 10% Powerbleaching product containing potassium oxalate and the other 10% Opalescence. The bleaching gels will be dispensed in identical syringes and well codified. Someone, not directly participant in the study, hold raffle much of the product as the cuspid receiving the treatment. The products will remain lapped such that so much the operator and the volunteer will not know which product is being used in each hemi-arch. Volunteers use bleaching agents for 3 hours daily for a3 weeks. For analysis of the cold sensitivity is used intraoral termode appliance analysis of neuro-sensory, TSA II, which will be placed in the buccal surfaces of the upper lateral incisors. The temperature fall at a rate of 1 ° C / sec and the volunteer stops stimulus when the thermal change is perceived. It will also be analyzed intensity of tooth sensitivity caused by a thermal stimulus continuous. This will be used to scale analog computer (COVAS - Computerized Visual Analog Scale). The analyzes will be made before starting the bleaching, after 24 hours, on 7, 14 and 21 days after initiation treatment and 7 days after the bleaching. The results will be tabulated and submitted to the appropriate statistical analysis.
