Abstract

Escherichia coli strains are classified as commensals, extraintestinal and intestinal pathogens. In recent years, the frequency of isolation of Metallo-Beta-Lactamase producing E. coli (MBL E. coli) has increased significantly. Many studies have researched MBL E. coli isolated from humans, however few studies were aimed to study MBL E. coli isolated from animals. Many animals act as reservoirs of pathogenic E. coli. This project aims to identify and perform molecular characterization of strains MBL E. coli isolated from humans and pets.
