Abstract

Enteritis corresponds to inflammation of the intestinal mucosa, causing adverse effects on the food's digestion, intestinal motility and nutrients absorption, affecting weight gain of poultry trade and increasing drug expenditures. The etiology of enteric diseases in young turkeys is very diverse and often multifactor, involving viruses and opportunistic bacteria. The objective of this study is to investigate the presence of Pathogenic Escherichia coli and Salmonella spp. in feces of turkeys with enteric disease, using molecular diagnostic assays. The data from this study will be important for the bacterial enteritis frames prevention in turkeys from Brazil and may assist in developing preventive strategies to reduce enteric diseases economic losses, thereby contributing to food security.
