Abstract

Considering field research in Bosnia, I intend to think the relation of the inhabitants of Bosnia with the categories of belonging - like nationality, religion, citizenship and ethnie - which give meaning to the field of the representation of the difference in this place throughout time. The time which will be focused here is delimited by three moments regarding the state constitution and the transformation of power regimes: the socialist period, when Bosnia was part of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia; the war, when the Bosnian territory was homogenized and divided according to the national groups that lived there; and the post-war period, marked by the peace agreement that, although was signed in the name of democracy and multiculturalism, didn't solve the conflicts that had driven to the war, and which also, produced new ones. The field research will be conducted mainly in Banja Luka, the main city of the Bosnian entity Republika Srpska (Serbian Republic), but also in Sarajevo, the main city of the country and of the Federation, the other Bosnian entity.A comparison between these places will be done in order to map the debate in Sarajevo and in Republika Srpska, and also in the intellectual mainstream of both places, focusing the disputes around the national belonging and what is considered by them a fair state. Documents, public intellectuals careers and the biographies of some of those, as well as narratives will be analyzed during the research. (AU)
