Abstract

The project have as objective to identify, analyze and represent the rain generating atmospheric systems active over M'Boi Mirim and Freguesia do Ó districts, located in the city of São Paulo, during the months of summer, by cartographic techniques and statistic analysis found on the teledetection's methodology. The study universe was chosen, first of all, due to the significant presence of risk areas at these regions (according to survey accomplished by the Technologic Research Institute-IPT), and in second place, due to the differences of the social vulnerability situation found between these districts (according to survey of the São Paulo Hall). It was also considered their geographical locations, as the M'Boi Mirim integrates South region, while Freguesia do Ó integrates the North region, in a way these districts are set on different natural climatic unities and on the same urban climatic unity (TARIFA & ARMANI, 2001). The development of this project considers the possibilities that the teledetection practice opens for an analysis of the atmospheric systems influent to the rain advent, one of the major elements for disasters breakout.
