Abstract

Theranostic systems consist of a single device containing therapeutics and diagnosis molecules and has increased attention in the actual researches because these devices can improve the disease therapy such as cancer, decrease the side effects and the toxicity in no-cancer cells and permit the optical monitoring. The aim of this work is to develop theranostic systems consisted of (i) ZnO/ZnS based quantum dots and Zn based double salts as cancer cell luminescent guides, (ii) doxorubicin as model drug in cancer therapy and (iii) liposome formed by phospholipids and cholesterol (molecule with cancer cell affinity) as luminescent and therapeutics molecules carriers. Moreover, the drug will be incorporated between the cationic layers of the (HDS) and posteriorly they will be incorporated in the liposome to enhance the sustained drug release capacity of the system. The devices developed will be characterized structurally and evaluated the luminescent properties of the different Zn based materials. Additionally, the in vitro citotoxicity test of the theranostic systems will be performed comparing with the free drug.
