Abstract

Nowadays, agricultural production systems employ large amounts of pesticides in order to increase the quantity and quality of food. Brazil has become one of the largest consumers of agrochemicals in the world and, although it has an important role in agricultural productivity, agrochemicals are now founded in large amounts in surface water and groundwater. Pesticides have an important role in agricultural productivity by minimizing the role of pests, however these compounds can provoque serious environmental impacts. In this context, different mechanisms are being studied in order to minimize these problems. As an example, the development of sustained release systems using nanoparticles could increase the performance/efficiency of these chemicals. Therefore, this project aims to development of new delivery system for release fungicides (carbendazim and tebuconazole) in order to minimize the impacts of these on the environment, and increase the efficiency of them. Also, in this project, we will development new formulations for sustained release of fungicides, as well as the assessment of genotoxic aspects and antifungal activity of the formulations. The importance of this project lies in the dimension of Market of fungicides in Brazil and in the world. Brazilian market is one of the largest in the world, with over 100 companies able to register products in the field of agrochemicals. Thus, the area of agrochemicals has a large field of research and development of new technologies that could produce low environmental impacts.
