Abstract

The surface topography and manufacturing material of surgical implant can influence the osseointegration process, due to its chemical and physical changes. The aim of this study will be to compare implants made from different alloys of titanium porous surface associated with dense core bone regeneration. . By means of powder metallurgy, 50 implants showing dense core integrated with a porous surface, which will be divided into 5 groups: a) group 1: control - commercially pure Ti, b) Group 2: alloy Ti-6Al-4V (titanium -aluminum-vanadium) c) group 3: alloy Ti-13Nb-13Zr (zirconium-niobium-titanium) d) group 4: alloy Ti-35Nb (niobium-titanium), e) group 5: alloy Ti -35Nb-7ZR-5Ta (titanium-zirconium-niobium-tantalum). This study will use ten rabbits to evaluate and compare bone regeneration by means of histology and histomorphometry. Each rabbit will receive an implant in each group, implants G1, G2, G3 are inserted into the right tibia and G4, G5 in the left tibia. Five rabbits, randomly selected, will be euthanized 2 and 4 weeks after surgery. The data will be evaluated by ANOVA and when required by the multiple comparison test of Tukey (p <0.05).(AU)
