Abstract

Titanates are oxides with perovskite ABO3-type structure where A can be an alkaline earth metal and B, the Ti metal cation. Among titanates with perovskite structure, the ternary system BaTiO3 and CaTiO3 is of considerable technological importance in view of their electro-optical behavior. Changes caused in the structure of these titanates, such as distortion of clusters and presence of local defects or impurities can significantly change the properties displayed by these compounds. In this study, will be investigated the microstructure and electrical properties of the ATiO3 systems where the A site will be partly substituted by cation Ca2 + and Ba2 + in order to be obtained the compound Ba1-xCaxTiO3 (BCT) with x ranging from 0:00 to 1:00 mol%. For obtaining these materials the Microwave-assisted hydrothermal method will be used with a relatively short time synthesis. Powders samples and films, obtained by the method of electro deposition will be characterized by using different characterization techniques. The main purpose is to observe the changes in electrical properties that ternary systems (BaTiO3 and CaTiO3) may suffer from the partial replacement of the cation A in the perovskite structure.
