Abstract

Recent years have been characterized by a substantial increase in the amount of phylogenetic analysis in anurans, mainly driven by the production of large DNA sequences. Hyloidea, a group that contains more than half of the living amphibian, has been the focus of a large number of studies densely sampled. Those works resulted in phylogenies reasonably resolved at all levels, though mostly lacking morphological synapomorphies. In turn, the results of these analyses consistently recovered some groups of Hyloidea, while the more basal nodes were obtained unsupported or change their composition in different analysis. The solution of this problem requires the addition of a substantial amount of evidence. This project will sequence genes still missing for critical terminals, with the addition of a new set of nuclear genes for between 250 and 300 terminals, with the aim of resolving the basal nodes of Hyloidea. Thus, it is expected, by conducting a simultaneous phylogenetic analysis with genotypic and phenotypic data, to obtain a robust phylogenetic hypothesis and numerous morphological synapomorphies, missing for almost all groups.
