Rootstocks in production and the physical and chemical characteristics of grape and wine of different cultivars in Jundiaí-SP

Abstract

The aim of this study is to evaluate the different cultivars canopies effect over two rootstocks on yield and quality in must and wine from wine grape cultivars cultivated in Jundiaí, SP. The experiment will be conducted at the Fruit Center (of the agronomic institute, IAC) experimental area, in Jundiaí, SP, during December 2013 to March 2015. The experimental design will be randomized block in factorial schema 12 X 2, 12 canopy cultivars ('Isabella', 'Claret', 'Cabernet Sauvignon', 'Cabernet Franc', 'Merlot', 'Syrah', 'Sauvignon Blanc' , IAC 138-22 'Maximum' , IAC 116-31 'Queen' , IAC 21-14 'Magdalene', BRS Lorena and BRS Violet) and 2 rootstocks ('IAC 766' and 'Ripária the Traviú') amounting 24 treatments. 2013/2014 season yield will be evaluated. Regarding production and characteristics of bunches and berries, the following parameters will be evaluated: yield per area and per plant, fresh weight, bunch length and width, berries number per bunch, rachises and berries fresh weight. Concerning berries chemical characteristics will be assessed: soluble solid content (SS), titratable acidity (TA), ratio SS/TA, pH, vitamin C, total polyphenols content, total flavonoids content, anthocyanins, carotenoids and antioxidant capacity. Regarding the wine quality, the following parameters will be evaluated: total dry extract; reduced dry extract; ratio alcohol in weight/reduced dry extract, total, volatile and fixed acidity; alcoholic strength by distillation, pH, free and total sulfur dioxide, reducing sugars, density, vitamin C, total polyphenol content, total flavonoids content, anthocyanins, carotenoids and antioxidant capacity. Data will be subjected to the normality test and, following normal distribution, they will be subjected to variance analysis, if been significant, the averages will be compared by Tukey test (P d 0.05).
