Abstract

Intoduction : The body fat redistribution and metabolic abnormalities found in HIV-infected patients on antiretroviral therapy high (HAART) contribute to an atherogenic profile , increasing the risk for developing cardiovascular disease . Identify early risk for developing these diseases by practical , affordable , accurate and reliable methods of assessment used in clinical practice becomes fundamental. Objectives : To evaluate measures and indices of adiposity and associated bridges to propose cardiovascular risk in HIV-infected patients on ART in both sexes . Methods: 450 HIV positive patients on ART will be evaluated. We will measure circumferences (waist , hip, thigh, calf , neck, trunk ) , skinfolds ( biceps, triceps , subscapular , suprailiac ) conducted the examination of impedance analysis bioelectrical ( BIA ) and calculated indices of adiposity ( body mass index , waist ratio hip, waist thigh ratio , waist ratio calf , the waist height , body mass index corrected for body fat mass , body adiposity index , conicity index and body shape index) . To identifying risk / cardiovascular events, we will conduct exams of electrocardiogram; stress electrocardiography; ankle brachial index test; pressure arterial hypertension , lipid biochemical tests and blood glucose. To evaluate the performance of all measurements / indices of adiposity to predict cardiovascular risk will be used to ROC curves , and measures / indices that show better performance ( area under the curve) will be used to propose cutoff points ( which have better combinations of sensitivity / specificity) .
