Abstract

An important requirement of the citrus market is fruit containing a low number or absence of seed. Therefore, to make new varieties of tangerines and hybrids more attractive to the Brazilian market and consumer it is necessary to launch commercially varieties containing this characteristic. Hybrid of tangerines obtained in the breeding program of the Citrus Center / IAC have important characteristics such as resistance to alternaria and different harvest seasons, however, have a large number of seeds (mean of seven seeds per fruit). Therefore, the aim of this work is to obtain populations of mutant plants of six hybrid varieties for the future selection of clones containing seedless fruits and / or other mutated characteristics.
