Abstract

The last 20 years have grown the number of studies attempting to explain the relationship between the immune system, central nervous system and exercise. Today it's known that exercise can be an immunomodulator, stimulating or inhibiting the immune response. Already the exercise in hypoxia may be considered a potent immunosuppressive agent primarily for its ability to increase the concentration of stress hormones such as catecholamines and cortisol, decrease the concentration of glutamine since it represents an additional stress to the body beyond that caused by acute exercise. On the other hand recent evidence suggests that supplementation of carbohydrate and glutamine have the power to mitigate the effects of exercise in hypoxia on the adaptive immune response. Thereby, this study aims to assess the effects of supplementation with carbohydrate and glutamine on parameters of the innate immune response and inflammation during and after exercise in hypoxia simulating altitude of 4500m. So this study will to assess 15 male volunteers, between 18 and 30 years, underwent three procedures on different days, and the control groups that carry out exercise at 70 % VO2peak in simulated altitude of 4500m without supplementation and those held at altitude supplemented with carbohydrate and / or glutamine.
