Abstract

Brucellosis is a zoonosis which has a great impact on the public health and economic worldwide. Canine brucelose, often diagnosed in Brazil, has its importance in the public health given the relation animal/human. From the economic point of view causes losses in kennels due to reproductive losses and difficulty or impossibility of therapeutic. Genotyping of pathogens is essential for monitoring transmission chains, which is required for local and global disease surveillance. This project id intended to evaluate the genetic diversity of B. canis population in the São Paulo state comparing with European and Asian strains by MLVA-16; analyze in silico of genes supposed involved in drug resistance, virulence determinants and mobile genetic elements, and develop of a new epidemiological tool through sequencing complete genome of these strains.
