Abstract The general goal of this research is to reconstruct the contemporary state of discussions on prose as poetic and critical problem through some French writers who indicate a movement "towards prose". In order to understand what is at stake in this discussion, very intense nowadays, it is important to examine the tradition of prose poem, from Baudelaire to Francis Ponge, as well as do not lose sight of theoretical models of such discussion. Jean-Marie Gleize and Pierre Alféri are two authors who have contributed to associate the longstanding discussion of "objectivism" or "literalism" to an aesthetic and to a politic of prose. In order to establish a strong critical and bibliographical support for the project, we intend to undertake a research at parisian libraries, in a direct exchange with Jean-Michel Maulpoix (former professor at Paris X University - Nanterre, now at the Sorbonne Nouvelle University - Paris 3), one of the leading scholars of contemporary poetry, but also one of the most important voices in this discussion.
