Abstract

This proposition presents a working plan for a period of post-doctoral studies at the group "Cultures et Sociétés Urbaines" (CSU), which is associated to the Centre de Recherches Sociologiques et Politiques de Paris (CRESPPA). The studies are to take place from November of 2014 to July of 2015. During this period of work, we intend to pursue new directions of our research and theoretical production, examining our accumulated experience in the following fields of research: political socialization and intergenerational transmission of manners of relating to politics and work, especially within working class. The proposition is structured in two axes of targets: 1) to deepen sociological and educational theoretical contribution to the understanding of the processes of political socialization and establishing of dispositions to activism, improving the uses of those theories in my researches (and in my post-graduate students' researches). We intend to widen our investigations in order to understand how social groups (other than the working classes) and individuals at different places in their life cycles (from childhood to oldness) relate to politics. 2) To widen and deepen the analyses of the data that was collected within the research project "Socialização e política: um estudo sobre a formação de disposições para a militância entre membros da classe operária", which has received financial support from FAPESP (Processo FAPESP: 2009/11542-3). The data was collected in order to produce a prosopography of the leaderships of the Union of Metallurgic workers of ABC (SMABC), stressing the processes of political socialization and education by which some selected members of the metallurgist working class have become leaderships of SMABC, between 1972 and 2002. The researchers of CSU/CRESPPA, especially my future supervisor (Bernard Pudal), all have a vast experience at prosopographical and biographical studies with activist groups. Because of that, the period of post-doctoral studies will allow me to discuss my data with a larger group of experienced researchers, refining its analyses. It will also allow me to contact other researchers that are associated to this centre in order to know their work and to exchange experiences in the fields of socialization and activism and politics.
