Abstract Considering the battle for audience growth, new models of journalistic production appear in television vehicles and influence identity discourse of journalists. So, some productions that earned good ratings, have made use of some strategies to achieve their goals. Among these are the use of different types of media truths and the use of so-called truth effects, that mark the discursive ethos. Therefore, this research aims to study some models of yellow press - considering the innovation in news making and kinds of representation of journalists' ethos - in the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s: Documento Especial - Televisão Verdade (1980s); Aqui Agora (1990s); and Balanço Geral (2000s). For this, we will use discourse analysis of French tradition. This will allow us to study the ethos in each program, focusing on how the journalistic identity was built on its discursive content.
