Abstract

The objective is to evaluate genetic parameters related to the conformation and the gait quality in horses of the Mangalarga and Campolina races. The hypothesis to be tested is that the conformation is correlated with the gait and both are inheritable in the population. Will be used 200 horses, duly registered by the studbook Office of the Breeders Associations. The animals will be measured to obtain morphometric characteristics and their images of progress analyzed with equipment and software Simi Motion to obtain the gait variables. The pedigree of the animals will be obtained with the breeders associations and the data will be analyzed according to animal model with the software MTDFREML.
