Abstract

This work aims a careful discussion about design into fashion in an academic examination. Currently, due to several factors it is understood that there is no consensus on the idea of fashion design at the Academy. The State of the art of design in fashion is a methodological path to this research. Then it will be investigate the lack of agreement on the issue among the agents in the area. This research focuses is on intellectual and academic production of the pioneers in shaping the thinking in the field of design in fashion. These works advocated the issue in undergraduated and post-graduation courses. After a literature review we intend to conduct a survey of primary sources. Then, we intend to examine articles that appear in the Colóquio de Moda Proceedings in order to check the speech about the pioneers in fashion design. Usually the works about fashion were hosted in post graduated programs in design and now they are hosted in fashion post graduated programs. Beyond the material issues which raises the notion of design regarding the product there are immaterial ones. Terms as symbolic relations, point of view, thought, idea or concept about the project, supposing a consensus about it, expressing relations of subjectivity because they rely on judgments that agents make about design in fashion from their knowledge of classical literature and their experience in teaching and research, so they are considered immaterial expressions for being intangible. The intersection of information should provide an overview of the multiple points of view on fashion and design and about the symbolic relationships that develop in the academic field about design and the domain of certain terms by the fashion area over time.
