Abstract

This work is intended to study the interaction of the enzyme asparaginase in Langmuir and Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films of dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine (DPPC). The phospholipid will be spread on the air-water interface and the enzyme inserted into the aqueous subphase of the lipid monolayer. The adsorption of the enzyme to the monolayer will be studied with surface pressure-area isotherms, vibrational spectroscopy and Brewster angle microscopy. The mixed monolayer will be transferred to solid supports by the LB methodology and the enzymatic activity of asparaginase will be evaluated from solutions containing asparagine. (AU)
