Abstract

The aim of this research project is to study the synthesis, functionalization and characterization of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) applied to the immunoglobulins G (IgGs) detection, in order to survey these nanoparticles' potential as immunonanosensors in immunoassays. The AgNPs are highlighted by their unique photochemical properties that overcome the organic fluorophores' fluorescence properties. It is worth noting that the biological compatibility through the functionalization of the AgNPs' surfaces with biomolecules ensure their application as immunonanosensors able to detect small quantities of molecules in solution. In the biomedical field, the characterization of these photochemical properties and the surface functionalization strategies comprise important studies that contribute to good clinical diagnostic practice. The AgNPs exhibit excellent optical properties that enable their use in specific biomolecules detection assays. Besides the best AgNPs' optical properties, the gold nanoparticles are more widespread in nanobiosensor's studies. The purpose of this project is undergoing an experimental study of the AgNPs to be applied in the immunopathology detection, e.g., Neuromyelitis optica (NMO) and Multiple Sclerosis (MS). The project's auto reactive IgGs will be the anti-Myelin Oligodendrocyte Glycoprotein (anti-MOG) and anti-Myelin Basic Protein (MBP) which are involved in the demyelinating process. (AU)
