Abstract

The urban morphology can be understood as the product of the combination of several elements that make up the urban structure, with built and open spaces, with vegetation or paving, and different volumes, materials and colors. It comprises two basic elements: the urban blocks and urban road spaces. This research project aims to study, measure and map relevant parameters of the components of the urban space, according to a systemic perspective of its various functions, applicable to an urban area selected in São Paulo, where incentives to urban density are planned to be applied. The study will cover the survey, mapping and analysis of data measured on urban roads and blocks for the following main aspects: urban microclimate, traffic and transportation, land use, population and built density.The following activities are then planned: depth study on the theme of urban morphology; study of the urban area to be characterized and analyzed; planning and execution of field surveys and measurements, secondary research data; mapping, systematization and analysis of results. The field measurements will be supported by the use of equipment such as laser distance meter, air & temperature meter, surface temperature meter, sound level meters, and traffic counters.The proposed research will result in a consolidated multi-criteria analysis of the conditions of land use of a selected urban space, as well as on the comparison of the results with available reference statistical values or other values collected for other areas of the city.
