Abstract

This project proposes the study, design, and evaluation of mechanisms to schedule applications within the context of an autonomic cloud management architecture, namely CometCloud. The aim is to model the scheduling problem in this dynamically changing environment in order to achieve the desired performance with low execution costs without user intervention. In order to achieve this objective, this proposal involves the development of scheduling algorithms that can handle an ever-changing set of applications and demands, whose decision-making output has the support of CometCloud mechanisms for leasing and releasing computational resources from public clouds to provide elasticity according to the scheduler's decision. The proposed research project will be developed in the year of 2016 at the Department of Computer Science in Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, USA, under the supervision of Professor Manish Parashar. This project will be developed in collaboration with Professor Omer Rana, from the Cardiff University, UK. (AU)
