Abstract

We intend to use structure guided modification to synthesize novel molecules containing the nitrone functional group, a group that has capacity to trap radical species. Based on data obtained experimentally and in the literature, it is proposed to synthesize the 5th. Generation of antioxidant compounds of our laboratory. After the synthesis and characterization , the novel molecules will be subjected to a chemical system which generates radical species to evaluate the antioxidant potential of the nitrone compounds. As the physiological and pharmacological effects of nitrones compounds are not yet fully established, studies comparing the new nitrones with nitrones and antioxidants reference will be performed, in order to understand the structure/antioxidant activity of the nitrone functional group.
