Abstract This research project aims at examining four films produced by filmmakers from Minas Gerais - Brazil - between the years 1969 and 1972, addressing for this purpose the relations between filmic analysis and historical research. In the center of discussion there is the concept called "scene of dissent" postulated by Jacques Rancière (2010). Therefore, this proposal considers the following films as basis for analysis: Vida Provisória, by Mauricio Gomes Leite (1969); Crioulo Doido, by Carlos Alberto Prates Correia (1970); Perdidos e Malditos, by Geraldo Veloso (1970) and O Homem do Corpo Fechado, by Schubert Magalhães (1972). Their directors are based on a similar formation: cineclubism shared in the Film Studies Center (FSC) and work together in the field of film criticism in important periodicals, such as the Journal of Cinema and the Journal of Film Criticism of Belo Horizonte. In common, there is also the unprecedented financial resource donated by the Development Bank of Minas Gerais for the financial viability of some of the works. These economic, political and historical factors subsidize the context that made these films emerge, media products capable of representing a film production trajectory that has survived the years and today allows it to be (re) discussed by studies dedicated to the history of Brazilian cinema.
