Abstract

The aim of the present study was to evaluate the local effect of the antimicrobial therapy using Clarithromicyn association with photodynamic therapy (PDT) on the treatment of Generalizade Aggressive Periodontitis patients (GAgP). For this, 60 periodontal pockets in patients with GAgP in separate quadrants, with a probing depth (PD) and clinical attachment level of e 5mm, with bleeding on probing (BOP) on non-molar teeth will be selected to participate in the study. The pockets will be randomly distributed on the following groups: DP (n=15): periodontal pockets that will receive periodontal debridement and placebo; DP+CLM (n=15): periodontal pockets that will receive periodontal debridement associated with the use of systemic Clarithromycin; DP+PDT (n=15): periodontal pockets that will receive periodontal debridement associated with the use of photodynamic therapy; DP+CLM+PDT (n=15): periodontal pockets that will receive periodontal debridement associated with the use of Clarithromycin and photodynamic therapy. The evaluations will be performed prior to treatment (baseline), after three and six months. The following parameters will be evaluated: 1 Plaque Index; 2. Gingival Index; 3. Probing Depth (PD), from the pocket depth to the gingival margin performed with North Carolina periodontal probe (UNC- ,Hu-Friedy); 4. Gingival Recession (GR), as the gingival margin to the cementoenamel junction; 5. Clinical Attachment Level (CAL), PD+GR. 5% significance level will be assumed for statistical analysis.
