Abstract

The São Paulo citrus industry, representing more than 80% of the national citrus industry has been facing in recent decades, to produce varieties that meet the frozen concentrated orange juice. The fresh fruit market had low priority and has a great opportunity and alternative for staying in the activity of small and medium producers, since the fruits destined for fresh consumption have higher added value. However, the expansion and strengthening of the internal market of fresh fruits of citrus can only occur through the diversification of new varieties with good quality fruits. Although citrus are known to have a narrow genetic base, a large phenotypic variability has been observed among the group of mandarins and their hybrids. This work aims to investigate and identify molecular markers that allow early identification of varieties and may be useful in characterizing and cultivars certification.
