Abstract

The superfamily of TRP channels (transient receptor potential channels), all expressed in eukaryotes, in various tissues, plays many physiological functions order of these organisms. Within the central nervous system these channels are expressed in several regions, performing regulatory physiological roles, such as: nociception, thermoregulation, sensory perception among others. But there are no studies that demonstrate the cardiorespiratory role of these channels. Preliminary data, applying peripheral injection indicate the possible role of these channels in the hypoxic stimuli. More experiments are needed to better understand these effects. The objective of this project is to investigate the role of TRPV1 channels in cardiorespiratory and thermoregulatory modulation in Wistar rats. For this purpose, Wistar rats will be submitted to stereotactic surgery for implantation of the guide cannula in the fourth ventricle, femoral artery cannulation for collecting heart rate data and implementation of the data logger to collect temperature data. The ventilation will be measured by whole body plethysmography method. Blood pressure will be measured from a pressure transducer. The animals will receive drug or vehicle into the fourth ventricle, with the already implanted guide cannula and will undergo gaseous conditions: hypercapnia (7% CO2) and hypoxia (10% O2).
