Abstract

Childhood obesity is a disease that must be a lot of attention due to the increase of its prevalence, and to be considered an important public health problem. Although there is still controversy about the effect of chia seed in certain NCDs, research in this area should be undertaken to demystify its use, since the chia is rich in Omega 3 which promotes the absorption of vitamins, such as vitamin E; act by facilitating the absorption of vitamin E, chia seed has an important anti-oxidative effect and is thus related to the attenuation characteristic of chronic inflammation processes obesity; Furthermore, Chia has a significant proportion of protein and is a rich source of calcium (this mineral has properties that aid in weight loss process) and containing boron, which in turn, acts aiding the process of absorption and utilization of calcium in the body.These compounds occur naturally and are abundant in chia, can act in order to add their effects by promoting weight loss and hence the improvement of diabetes effects (hyperinsulinemia, hyperglycemia) and the results of cardiovascular health,furthermore Its structure is composed of a long chain triglycerides LCI, found that when the correct ratio has the effect of lowering cholesterol that adheres to arteries.Will be conducted a double-blind randomized study of the crossing-over type (chia versus placebo) with 30 obese children; Children will be selected that have percentile greater than or equal to 95 whose age is between 5 and 10 years in the prepubertal period of both sexes of child obesity clinic of FMABC.Therefore, chia is configured as an alternative with lower values to medicines and some foods that currently are already used for consumption with exacerbated values. Thus, the benefits involving possible role in obesity and factors related to vascular diseases.
