Abstract

Life expectancy is increasing, professionals and health services need to know the epidemiological reality of the older people population to adapt the planning of services offers and prevention and health promotion strategies. Although tooth loss is culturally accepted, there is a prospect about the increase of the number of permanent teeth in the elderly, enabling an improvement in the quality of life for them. The design of this study is an epidemiological study based on secondary data provided by the final report of the "SB SP 2015 - State Research of Oral Conditions in São Paulo." The results will be used to gain knowledge of sensitive data through the study of loss and dental maintenance inolder people population of the State of São Paulo and its associated factors, such as socioeconomic, demographic, social capital, perception and use of dental services and their impact on quality of life in this population.
