Abstract

Scientific research is a collective process in which ethics and integrity arise as essential, by its effects, for example, on the credibility assigned to the results. Research integrity relates to values such as intellectual honesty and responsibility, both as regards the design and conduct of research, as to its reporting. One of the ethical dimensions of the construction of scientific knowledge refers to the discursive process. Therefore, it is important to situate the field of scientific production in the field of authorship, in the sense that the author is the one who creates knowledge in a particular area and is responsible for its formulation, but at the same time this is not a totally solitary activity, due to the fact that he/she takes part in a theoretical and methodological membership process. Moreover, it is worth noting that the meanings of words are not static. There are movements of sense, due to the different knowledge of production conditions, involving social, political and economic aspects. So it is important to comprehend the conceptions of research integrity, science, authorship in the scientific field and scientific misconduct which are circulating through the corpus. Our main objective is to go beyond some research misconduct descriptive presentations, contributing to a deeper comprehension of authorship policies: a) Database of 534 cases analysed by The Committee of Publication Ethics; b) Discussion documents - Authorship and plagiarism (Committee of Publication Ethics; c) Misconduct Case Summaries -The Office of Research Integrity (ORI-USA), de 2008 a 2016; d) Misconduct Case Summaries (FAPESP - Boas Práticas Científicas - Sumários de Casos, de 2012 a 2016; e) Brazilian and international documents on Research Integrity, de 2006 a 2016).
