Abstract Optical microcavities combine high quality factors and small modal areas to enhance the intensity of intracavity light, which enables the exploration of nonlinear optical phenomena. In this master's thesis, we study frequency comb generation in silica microdisks through four wave mixing, a third order nonlinear effect. Several applications follow from this absolute frequency reference, with easy implementation to photonic microchips. | |
