Abstract

We propose to study electron transfer through extended porphyrins trapped in the tunnelling gap between a metal substrate and a metal tip with in situ Scanning Tunnelling Spectroscopy (STS). The porphyrins will be synthesized with increasing complexity as the project advances.In parallel, the electrocatalytic activity of the prophyrins towards the oxygen reduction reaction will be analysed, and correlated with their electronic properties as probed with in-situ STS.
