Abstract

The investigation of unusual microbial sources for the production of bioactive natural products (secondary metabolites ) is of much interest , due to the possibility of obtaining novel compounds with potent biological activities. This project aims at the isolation of unprecedented substances with cytotoxic activity produced by two endophytes P2MF1F1 and isolated from Anthurium P2MSF1F2 loefgrenii collected in Alcatrazes Island ( coast of São Paulo). Fungal strains to be studied were selected because they produced extracts with cytotoxic activity against tumor cells. The objective is to cultivate these strains in larger volumes in order to isolate and completely identify bioactive substances produced in culture media.
