Abstract

In the last decade, the city of Medellín/Colombia has stood out to face urban precariousness and informality with wide participation. The contemporary urban context of Latin America indicates the need for exchange of experience regarding the treatment of urban problems. The aim of the research stage in Medellin is to deepen in loco the analysis on the progress and dilemmas related to social participation in urban intervention project La Herrera, Medellin, Colombia, implemented between 2009 and 2013 as part of the Integrated Urban Project of the Northeast Zone (PUI-nor) and object of study of the research associated with this project. Therefore, the research stage aims to analyze: i) the social and urban dynamics that occur in the study area, the urban intervention La Herrera in the city of Medellín; ii) the relationship that occurs currently between social groups of the study area and the government; iii) the appropriation, by the population of the area, of the public spaces built in the studied intervention project.
