Abstract

This research will analyze the first Brazilian non-fiction novel, The Case Lou - published in 1975 by the publishing company Civilização Brasileira, through the use of two conceptual keys: textual materiality and editorial mediation. The criminal case that originated the book was, at first, largely reported by the big media and contains a series of written reports by the same author of the book, Carlos Heitor Cony. In order to study the first Brazilian non-fiction novel, that was practically not academically explored, it will be developed an analysis on how the material support in which the texts were conveyed and it's editorial mediation were related to the construction of meaning of Cony's book. It will be developed textual analysis using as crucial concepts the discursive ambience and editorial mediation, created by Roger Chartier. Applying these concepts, the idea is to check the narrative configuration components in each one of the material support/genres in question - The case Lou and Cony's journalistic texts preceding the publishing of the non-fiction novel - and distinctions guided by the different editorial publishing processes.
