Abstract Calcium phosphate nanoparticles functionalization with ethylene glycol dimethacrylate derivatives is proved to be effective in reducing the negative effects of addition of calcium phosphate nanoparticles over the mechanical properties of resin composites. However, there were no significant reductions in the nanoparticle agglomeration. This project aims to: 1) investigate the effect of functionalization with different organic agents on the characteristics of CaP nanoparticles; 2) evaluate experimental composites containing these particles in relation to mechanical properties, degree of conversion, release of Ca2 + ions and HPO42- and their protective effect, in vitro, on the enamel adjacent to restorations in specimens submitted to a acid challenge. Data will be subjected to either one-way ANOVA (degree of conversion, mechanical properties and microhardness after acidic challenge) or two-way ANOVA (ion release). In all cases, Tukey test will be used for pair-wise comparisons. The global significance level (±) will be set at 5%. (AU) | |
