Abstract

Vale do Paraíba and Serra da Mantiqueira are areas of great transformations over the years which significantly change the local environmental dynamics. Particularly, the landscape changes in Vale do Paraíba were related to the Brazilian economic cycles that leaded to the current scenario of large concentrations of eucalyptus plantations. As consequence of the proximity between Serra da Mantiqueira and Vale do Paraíba, the land use and land cover changes in Serra da Mantiqueira are influenced by the population growth and industrial expansion in this region. Face to this facts, temporal studies on the land use and land cover allows to observe modifications as to evaluate the impacts generated. The present project focus on study the silviculture effects in Vale do Paraíba and Serra da Mantiqueira regions through change detection analysis of silviculture expansion over the years 1987, 1997, 2007 and 2017. Will be adopted a time-series of LANDSAT images for a macro-scale analysis and determination of relevant actors related to changes in the landscape of study area. With support from RapidEye images, regions of greater relevance or impact on the landscape change will be analyzed in micro-scale, allowing better analyzes, reflections and conclusions about the studied phenomenon.
