Abstract

This proposal is focused on developing strategies and activities of scientific communication for the thematic project SOS Chuva (Fapesp) and the mobile application call SOS Chuva. This application (free for smartphones and tablets) becomes very important to generate information for nowcasting, in which can show the weather forecasting that is happening now and in a short period of time, the rains, storms, an occurrence of lightning, strong winds, among others. This kind of information of early warning can help the population to prepare against the occurrences of extreme weather events and further reduce their vulnerabilities. Therefore, we perceive the priority for this application to become increasingly known and usefully by the population and by different sectors, such agriculture, electricity generation and public managers. In this way, this proposal aims to disseminate scientific bits of knowledge produced by SOS Chuva project in an attractive and efficient way for the public, improving scientific diffusion and popularization in our country.
