Abstract

The present proposal for a study exchange comes from my PhD research on the institutional actions of the Instituto do Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico Nacional (IPHAN) in Brazil during the years 2000. It aims to investigate and bring up to date the theoretical and methodological references to the cultural heritage scientific study in academic circles of excellence abroad through an study exchange in the University Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne under the orientation of professor Dominique Poulot. This choice is justified by the fact that France reveals itself a major reference to Brazil for two reasons: one is the history of the French public policies for cultural heritage conservation, and the other is concerns the French academic background related to the respective government actions.
