Endometrium histomorphological evaluation of women with polycystic ovary syndrome during the implantation window

Abstract

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a highly prevalent disorder in menacme women. There has been some improvement in the knowledge of this syndrome, but there are still some challenges in reproduction, mainly the low pregnancy rates and the obstetrical complications. It is thought that the endometrium would be responsible for those challenges. However only a bit is known about its transformations during the implantation window in women with PCOS. The aim of this research is the histomorfologically evaluation of women with PCOS endometrium. Voluntary women with PCOS and women with regular menstrual cycle will participate. Endometrium biopsy will be scheduled for both groups. As the PCOS patients presents with oligo menorrhea or amenorrhea, they will a get a 10 days natural progesterone treatment (400mg/day) intravaginal. After the 14th day of bleeding, they will repeat the treatment. The biopsy will be performed between the 20th and the 24th day of the cycle. Women with regular menstrual cycle will get natural progesterone intravaginal for 10 days (400mg/day) starting on the 14th day of the cycle. The biopsy will be performed between the 20th and the 24th day. The biopsied material will be prepared for light microscopy for histomorphologically evaluation. (AU)
