Abstract

This research project seeks to investigate whether work influences drug use, if so, how and why. If not, check which factors affect addiction. The interest in this study began in 2016, due to the professional experience of this researcher in a Therapeutic Community in Franca, SP, when interviewing the users of that space, it was observed that most of them had, as previous work experience, the footwear industry. Therefore, this project seeks to determine if work can influence the use of illicit drugs. It is worth mentioning that the production of footwear and leather goods is the main economic activity of the municipality of Franca, SP, and in its manufacturing process is used glue of cobblers and solvents, and exposure of them poses health risks. But can work influence and / or stimulate drug use? To answer this question will be conducted interviews with all users of a Therapeutic Community, located in Franca. The data collection will firstly be carried out a poll to identify the previous history of work with all the dependents hosted by said Therapeutic Community, on average 30 people, later, will be made semi-structured interviews with all those who identify the footwear sector as a history of job. Only those who give consent through the Free and Informed Consent Term will be interviewed (by poll or interviews). It is hoped that the problem of drug addiction will be brought closer to the work process in the footwear industry, including the harms caused by shoe glue and solvents, and may contribute to studies on worker health, drug addiction and Social Work.
