Abstract

The present study will evaluate the failure probability of thin translucent zirconia restorations submitted to several surface finishes. 220 preparations will be made in G-10 and will be used to receive the restorations (0.5 mm thickness), 100 in YZ HT, 100 in KATANA UTML and 20 in IPS EMAX CAD. Each group of zirconia will be divided into five subgroups according to surface finishing: Polishing (P) diamond rubbers with 2 granulations; Glaze (G) thin layer of glaze recommended by the manufacturer; Polishing and Glaze (PG) polishing and glaze associated; Infiltration with Silica (IS); Infiltration with glass (IV). The restorations of lithium disilicate will receive a thin layer of glaze. The specimens will be subjected to sliding contact fatigue. Test parameters: load of 200 N, frequency of 1,7 Hz, sliding distance of 0.1 mm and 2.106 cycles, in distilled water at room temperature. Every 200,000 cycles, the machine will be stopped and the crowns will be assessed for the presence of failures in a stereomicroscope (DiscoveryV20, Carl Zeiss, LLC, USA). If samples do not show any failure (cracks, chipping, debonding of restorations and catastrophic failures), the fatigue test will continue until they fail or until the test is finished. Specimens that do not fail will be considered "suspended" in the analysis. Results from this evaluation will be subjected to reliability analysis with the Weibull method, with bilateral confidence interval of 90%. Also, there will be an optical profilometer for qualitative surface evaluation, X-ray diffraction analysis, structural analysis with scanning electron microscope, measurement of volume loss (optical profilometer) and fractographic analysis.
