Abstract

The project entitled "Urban Climate in Cuiabá / MT: The dimension of risk in areas of high Socio-spatial Vulnerability", which is proposed this stage is linked, has as main objective to assess the dimension of urban climate risk, related to the thermal field. The increase in vulnerability, risks and disasters across the planet has provoked a growing interest in this issue in recent years. In view of the definition of Risk by the dimensions of Vulnerability and Hazard, the urban vulnerability index, based on the Portuguese Social Vulnerability model, was elaborated. On the other hand, the study of the Urban Heat Island, as an explanatory variable of the Hazard, related to the thermal field was considered. At the present stage of the research, the spatial Cartographic models of the Hazarf (urban heat island modeling) and Vulnerability (social vulnerability index) have already been completed. It is intended to proceed with the elaboration of thermal risk mapping as a methodology for risk analysis in tropical urban areas. It is proposed to start from an integration matrix of the Urban Social Vulnerability and Hazard Index already elaborated for the urban area of Cuiabá, MT, Brazil. For this, the support is sought, through an internship, with a supervising professor who has expressive scientific production and whose research group (CEGOT) brings together researchers of recognized excellence in scientific productions related to the topic Natural hazards in Brazil and Portugal.
